Ectomy of the Appendage to me

There it is!  It's gotta go!

Saw you in September...You sawed me, and stapled me and needled and threaded me.  Oh the wonder of those small navigating tools.
No more big long scars!

Now one Happy Gal left the surgical room without said appendix
 and now free
of throbbing pain.

Thank you Dr. Moore

For your Surgical Skills
and my wonderful outcome
I Thank you!
Enjoy your Award

Bright Eyes in demand first?

Oh, Bright Eyes!   Is it possible to do illustrations and format 2 books at the same time?   The crunch is here.  A little gal is awaiting Bright Eyes  the Too Tall Cupcake story before December.
A gnawing appendix is due to be removed, I need to set a duo goal for duo release of two stories.   I heard on a tv talk show that Sly Stalone had a few desks that he would sit at one by one and write those stories independent of one another in varying degrees of completion.   That I have done.  But it's the ILLUSTRATIONS that are the time consuming components for all that need to be pulled out of my mind's eye onto the drawing sheets.

For this, I must be as slick as a Donald Trump Employee and get it done.  Page by page, the story will be portrayed by matching creative scenes.  Now, get that mind open, gather the story, and just get 'er done!   See?  A writer has to get tough with him or herself...and rile of the hooves of progress!
This horse is going to sleep on it and start anew in the morning.

Along came "Hanger? Oh Hanger?" This book comes from behind in the publishing and illustrating race.

I truly had in mind to get right into one of two books:  "The Legend of the Unfortunate Cookies" copyrighted 2012 or "It's Bright Eyes...the Too Tall Cupcake.   Then, the Hanger story tapped me on the shoulder and insisted that this was the story to be next.
In this story, children do not hang up their clothes, so Hamilton O'Hanger and Hildegard O'Hanger and the famly take action for a solution. (c)2012 by Lynn Darby Author/Illustrator

It forced me to stay up until 5:30 AM to finish the front cover of the book a couple of days ago.  I celebrate my 2nd year anniversary of a quaduply-bipassed heart. Thank you God for this gift to use your gift to share with others.
Now the book is available for a waiting list for either a November 2012 or December 2012 completion.
If you wish to be on that waiting list write to artsy931@aol.com. Subject: Hanger Book waiting list.
I ship in the USA.  $14.95 includes a fridge magnet and a small brass charm on a satin ribbon as a book mark.

A Beacon of Hope...A Brunswick Beacon newspaper in NC 's reporter, Rachel Johnson has shone some light on this new kid on the block.

"Ring-Ring"---YOUR CALLING really and truly is CALLING.
Thank you, God.  The preparation meets opportunity theory is at hand.  Publishers weekly's children's bookshelf division claims childrens book sales are rising steadily.

So here is what can happen with a little Ben Franklin Ingenuity and Luck. Click on photo to enlarge.

Hey there! I am not professional, but as C. Hope Clark once posted on her FaceBook page...a little inspirational quote (author of which I cannot recall): “A professional is an amateur who never gives up.” Well, I read that thinking, “How did they know what I was doing?” I used my Microsoft publisher program and formatted my books and saved them into PDF files. Then, I decided to print with the best grade pigment ink as they are children’s picture books.
Print them for your family to start. I am not on Amazon yet, but I am a practicing amateur until I get to be known as a professional! I made a Face Book page for each book title so they each would have a place to live. One is "Tucker the Tricky Green Tractor" and the other, so far is the Knock On Wood Shamrocks story. I often think of Ben Franklin, my “go-getter” hero and say to myself: “Now what would Ben Franklin have done?” It would have been, "Best get on it and get it out there by any means possible! Don’t give up." That’s the answer.
Creative Heartbeats to you all
Lynn

The Library's guests will await the reading of Tucker, the Tricky Green Tractor this Tuesday, July 24, 2012.   New Printed book with completely laminated book cover for front side and inside of cover.  This tale will features children with no names, but the story reads better when you take on your own special person done by the author/illustrator!  The child or children will see themselves actually right IN the pages.  This is most enamoring and gives a child a great sense of self.

Please see this quote from one grandma who had the book made up for her grandson:    "My grandson put the magnet right on the refrigerator with the "wusty" side up. He was excited! He loved his silhoutte and told his Dad, "look Dad, that's me!"

And here is page that set the grandson to say, "Look Dad, that's me!"

http://www.authorsden.com/lynndarby1  This tells of my past journey.  Who used to be shy?  You wouldn't think so.  But alas, I was.   If it weren't for a radio interview of Katherine Hepburn, my life would have been different.  She admitted that she, too was shy and afraid to do most things, but here is what she said: "Do them anyway!"  Oh my, how that changed my life.   If  Katherine was afraid and did them anyway, then that meant it was a way for me to get to be brave!  I saved a shopping center in my home town. Got to write for a newspaper and had my own community news column.  That led to me doing creative feature articles. And the rest is History from then on.  Read and find out how the possibilities sprouted into realities.

Hickmans Crossroads Calabash NC Library is gettin on board for my books...YAY

I am making my debut into Hickman's Crossroads Library's pre-K children's reading program on July 24, 2012.  This will be my first of many public readings. I do hope to fill a calendar in the school system of Brunswick County with my eye on Horry County, SC next.  Wish me luck!
Tucker the Tricky Green Tractor will offer fun, hope and love to children.  I hope this becomes a favorite in their collection and that they recall the tale in their adulthood, too!

Here is Tucker's New look!  See the ribbon with tractor charm as book mark or hang over door knob. The 2-sided flip Fridge magnet of Tucker both before and after offers a little additional fun to the story.  Thanks for looking.

Tucker the Tricky Green Tractor is finished.  Will he be available in a smaller book at a local peach farm stand in SC?  Stay tuned as I shrink down the larger book and see how that goes.
I really could be a cute sized little reader for a summer's day.

The larger original book will be available as well.   Launching date is here.

Here I go following a dream.  The Brunswick Beacon is offering any musician, artist or author in the area to submit their book for a possible feature article on their book/books.  Tomorrow is Get the Book Out day!  Wish me luck.   I hope my stories will cause the readers to feel hugged by the journey it takes you through!

See his transformation and new life unfold.

New offering Pre K rewrite of book different level

So here are my thoughts:  I published the book at home with Microsoft Publisher.  The option was to save it 2 ways: 1. as a .pub file. 2. as a PDF.
Since I have the file and own the rights, why not make 2 versions for the 8-12 and above, (even adults seem to enjoy the underlying message within) and then another version for the Pre-K.  I am in the middle of making this second version as I have offered to volunteer my time for reading, and the younger set was the first request.  So I will just change out the original text on the Microsoft pub's desk top, and slip in the larger font, simple sumation of what is taking place, on each page, and it is done.   Oh, yes...Offer the 2 versions in PDF to use on Kindle, i pad and eee pad and enjoy flipping the pages that way.  Earn this for $4.95 by writing to ByLynnMarie@aol.com...subject Knock On Wood book 8-12 yrs old $19.95 free shipping.  Knock On Wood book pre k $14.95 free shipping. Photo of this pre k will be shown.   That's where this is at this stage of the growing popularity of the story!  Thanks for looking.
